Ven. Kahanda Amarabuddhi

Ven. Kahanda Amarabuddhi is the founding president of the Buddhivihara. He became a monk at the age of 12 years. As a novice he studied in Baddegama Ratanasara Pirivena and Gangarama Pirivena in Colombo. He received his BA Degree from University of Jayawardenapura in Sri Lanka. He served as a teacher at Perakumba pirivena Kotte for nine years. Ven. Amarabddhi resided in Africa for 2 years and traveled in Asia and Europe to propagate Dhamma. Accepting the invitation of Ven. Uduwe Ratanapala, he came to the United States and established the Buddhi Vihara in 1997. The current premises of Buddhi Vihara was purchased under his leadership in 1999.

Ven. Yatimadure Gnanawimala

Ven. Yatimadure Gnanawimala was ordained in 1988 and received his higher ordination in 1997. He gained a special degree on Buddhist Philosophy at the University of Jayawardenapura . He served as a Pali and Buddhist philosophy teacher for five years in Vidyaloka Pirivena in Kotmale. He has traveled in Asia propagating Dhamma prior to attached to the Buddhi institute in 2006.

Ven. Wellagiriye Seelasumana

Ven. Wellagiriye Seelasumana was ordained in 1981 and received his higher ordination in 1989. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in 1995 and got his MA in 1997 from the Buddhist and pali university in Sri Lanka. In 2002 Ven. Seelasumana gained a education post graduate degree from the university of Colombo. He taught at Mahavihara Pirivena in Anuradhapura for 11 years. He served as the acting abbot of the famous Abhayagiri Vihara in Anuradhapura before he came to the United State in 2007.

Ven. Mangnokkawatte Padmakeerthi

 

Ven. Mangnokkawatte Padmakeerthi became a monk in 1987. He received his higher ordination in 1989. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in 2007 from the Buddhist and Pali university in Sri Lanka. He taught at Dhammananda Pirivena in Welimada for two years before he attached to the Buddhivihara. He is well known for chanting pirith in Sri Lanka.
